The 2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III ‘The Wings Tour’ successfully ended the two-day concert this weekend here in Manila, Philippines. The buzz still has yet to subside from this highly anticipated concert. It has been a few days already but I still watch my fan videos over and over again and been listening to my Wings Tour playlist the whole day continuously! Philippine K-Pop Convention is one of the biggest event of the year for Filipino K-Pop fans. I had a great time when I first attended this event three years ago where Lunafly, LC9, A.cian and Boyfriend were the main guests. I enjoyed fangirling over Lunafly and since then, their songs and cover songs have been a part of my mp3 playlist. It was also fun to check out the booths of each local fan clubs where they sell various merchandises and albums. I skipped joining this event for two years because I felt too old already haha! However, when we were tasked to cover this event as global correspondents for KPopChannel.TV I was able to find an excuse to attend this event again!
My friend told me about Smule which is an application where you can sing and record songs as solo or as a collaboration. What’s great about it is there are also non-English songs including Korean and Japanese songs which I can sing along with other like-minded individuals. Continue reading “Hooked on Smule”
If you have been reading my previous posts, you might have noticed that I am a K-Pop fan and two of my favorite groups belong to YG Entertainment: BIGBANG and 2NE1. Actually, I like a lot of other YG artists, actors and models too!
On my previous post, I provided a step-by-step guide on how to go to Cube Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, FNC Entertainment and SM Entertainment (read more here), and as promised, here is a step-by-step guide on how I was able to go to YG Entertainment. Since today is G-Dragon‘s (Kwon Ji Yong) birthday, I am dedicating this post to him. Happy birthday Ji Yong ssi! Saranghae! :-*
I went to visit other entertainment agencies during the earlier part of the day, so it was already quite dark when I went to YG Entertainment. Compared to the previous entertainment agencies I went to, where I had to walk quite a long distance from the subway, going to YG Entertainment is easier.
1) From Line 2 Hapjeong Station (합정역) Exit 8, just walk straight ahead and you will see the following buildings, (mostly motels/hotels) as you go towards YG Entertainment.
2) You will pass by Hotel Circle and SK gas station, just keep walking straight ahead until you reach Lee Mart which is also just across Proud Apartment.
3) Turn right on Lee Mart then cross the street towards Proud Apartment which is on your left side. You should reach the entrance of Proud Apartment and you will see a street sign Huiujeong-ro 1 gil (희우정로 1길).
4) YG Entertainment Building is on the same side as Proud Apartment. It is also near a GS25 convenience store and a Kimchi/Seaweed Museum (yellow building) is on the other side of the street.
It was in early April 2015 when I went here. Back then, BIGBANG is still preparing to launch their MADE series album. I was tempted to stay and wait for a chance to catch a glimpse of them (just in case they were recording at that time) but the cold weather stopped me from doing so. Overall, I like how unique YG Entertainment looks like. It looks modern and artistic, just like their talented artists.
I hope YG will host an event where they will give fans a chance to tour YG building and eat at YG cafeteria or perhaps watch artists as they practice or record their album. I know it is a far-fetched wish, but I’m still crossing my fingers it would happen soon.
Cannot get enough of your favorite YG artists? Why not visit them at YG Entertainment using this guide, who knows it might be your lucky day to spot your favorite artist!

I only had five days for my first trip to South Korea. Part of my itinerary was to visit the famous tourist spots such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, N Seoul Tower, Nami Island and Petite France. Since I am a K-Pop fan, I managed to squeeze in one day to visit the K-Pop entertainment agencies and K-Pop-owned restaurants .
I started my K-Pop tour in Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong in Gangnam. I used the Korean Entertainment Agencies Tour Route from Visit Korea as a reference. I altered the sequence (blue line) to Cube (former office building), JYP, FNC and SM since I did not visit Grill Taco and I do not want to take a bus. This map is very reliable because I was able to find the above agencies without getting lost (I did not rent a mobile wifi to cut down my travel expenses so I do not have GPS or access to google maps).

I was not able to see any K-Pop artist during this time but I was fulfilled just seeing the entertainment agencies of my favorite K-Pop artists (BtoB of Cube; 2AM, 2PM and GOT7 of JYP; CNBLUE of FNC; Super Junior of SM). Hope this guide will help you find what you are looking for. Feel free to leave a comment for suggestions or corrections.
I posted a separate guide on how to go to YG Entertainment since it is located in a different area. Happy fangirling! ^_^
Last April 12, 2015, a few days after I came back from Seoul, I was fortunate enough to be given free tickets to watch Best of Best in the Philippines at the Philippine Arena. This K-Pop concert featured Red Velvet, BTOB (Born to Beat), Girls’ Generation or SNSD and Super Junior. I have watched the latter three groups before so I know it will surely be an awesome concert.
There were round trip shuttle service for only P50 with pickup locations at Alabang Town Center, Intercontinental Manila Open Car Park, and Trinoma Mall.
Since the shuttle schedule in Makati at Intercontinental Manila was from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. only, we arrived quite early at the Philippine Arena.
There were lots of activities prepared for the concert attendees. At KPoparazzi booth, they provided costumes so you can dress up like a K-Pop artist and have your picture taken.
At Style booth, they provided free makeover so it is better to have your makeup and hair done here first before going to KPoparazzi booth to complete your K-Pop look.
We started lining up at 6 p.m. and as the night progressed, Philippine Arena was beautifully illuminated. This made us more excited as this was also our first time to watch a concert at such a very big venue.
The facilities are well maintained at the Philippine Arena. The LED board and sound system were of high quality to ensure satisfaction of the audience even if it is in the general admission area. The concert did not start until most of the audience got settled into their assigned seats. Different light sticks for different fandoms were lit up as the audience anticipated for the start of the concert.
Red Velvet (consisting of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri) was the first group to perform. This is the first girl group by SM Entertainment in five years after f(x).
I am only familiar with their first digital single, Happiness, and though I have seen them perform their other songs, I would still pick this song as their best song that night.
BTOB (Born to Beat) consisting of Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Changsub, Hyun-sik, Peniel, Il-hoon, and Sungjae performed next.
I have watched them last year at Dream KPop Fantasy Concert 2 in Araneta Coliseum and I have enjoyed their songs which are combination of rap, R&B, and dance pop. Sungjae, the youngest, has been my favorite member since then and now that he has quite grown up, I still find him adorable. He made me so happy every time he threw hearts and flying kisses at the fans. From time to time, he would even say a couple phrases in Filipino like Mahal Kita (I love you) and Mahal Kita Pilipin (I love you Philippines).
For this concert, BTOB performed Beep Beep, Thriller, Wow, I Only Know Love, The Winter’s Tale and 2nd Confession.
The very popular Girls’ Generation or SNSD consisting of Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri,Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun, performed next.
Clad in above-the-knee baby pink dress, they really look pretty and graceful. They sang and danced their hit songs Gee, Genie, Hoot, Mr. Mr. The fans, specifically the fan boy beside me, knows all their songs by heart! Amazing! ^_^
Finally, saving the best for last, is the highly awaited performance of Super Junior consisting of Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Eunhyuk, Donghae,Siwon, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun. The crowd went wild including us! ^_^
They started with Shirt, followed by This is Love.
They also greeted the fans with Mabuhay!
EunHyuk and DongHae performed Oppa, Oppa and Siwon and the other members playfully joined them at the end of the song.
KyuHyun also performed his song, At Gwanghwamun.
Then they performed Mr. Simple.
The members also showed off their break dance skills while HeeChul playfully pumped Kangin’s chest and gave him what looked like a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
For their finale, they performed their latest hit, Mamacita.
It was tiring going to the concert venue so the shuttle service was a good idea though there were some confusion regarding where to line up and where to ride the shuttle. On our way home, we were surprised by the thoughtfulness of the organizers who even provided free meals during the bus ride. I was able to go home almost 1 am, so I suggest starting the event earlier if the venue would be as far as Philippine Arena to ensure the safety of those who will watch the concert.
The sweltering weather during that day while we waited in line added to our discomfort but we ended up fulfilled and flushed from the excitement after watching these K-Pop idols perform. Since I am a fan girl, I mostly cheered on BTOB and Super Junior and up to know, I still watch my fan videos repeatedly with a smile on my face. I hope with the success of this concert, more organizers will bring other K-Pop groups in the Philippines :-)
