Hauliday at N.Cat Philippines: 5 Reasons to Love N.Cat Korean Accessories

N.Cat Philippines recently opened their newest branch at The Venice Grand Canal Mall at McKinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) last weekend. N.Cat or Naughty Cat (못된고양이) is Korea’s Top 1 Accessories Store.  Since I became addicted to K-Drama and became a K-Pop fan, I have been more inclined to lean towards K-fashion as well.  Let me give you a run-through of my hauliday experience at N.Cat Philippines and why you will love N.Cat Korean accessories as much as I do! CNBLUE Blueming at MNET M! Countdown

It was not planned nor expected. It just happened. It was like a dream.  It was meant to be…

That was how my friends and I felt when our travel dates coincided with CNBLUE‘s comeback schedule with their 6th mini album Blueming. CNBLUE had been to Manila for Blue Moon World Tour and Can’t Stop World Tour but Philippines was not included in their Come Together concert tour last year. There were a lot of things that happened which almost got our trip cancelled due to personal reasons but it turned out to be one of the best trip we all had because we were able to watch our favorite band perform live! K-Star Road in Gangnam

Psy’s song “Gangnam Style” had been a worldwide hit but this is not the reason why I went to Gangnam. Of course, Gangnam is known for its upscale fashion and it is a shopping haven for the trendsetters. World-famous brand labels line up the streets of Apgujeong-dong which will make the fashionistas’ heartbeat faster. LOSER

BIGBANG is back and they are making it worth the wait for all the fans who had been anticipating their comeback since their ALIVE album and world tour in 2012. They started with a trailer for their MADE world tour which was followed by their concert in Seoul last April 25 and 26 where they sang Bae Bae and Loser for the first time. Since then, fan videos and pictures had been posted continuously on the Internet, and just within three days of releasing the official videos for these songs, it has reached almost 7 million views for Bae Bae and 9 million views for Loser! The views will definitely have grown more by the time I finished this post.  Amazing! ^_^

Loser had made an impact on me the first time I have heard of it even though I do not understand much of it aside from its title, but the soulful voices of each artists combined with the arrangement and composition of the song surpassed the language barrier. I was hooked.

When the music video was released, it gave me a better perspective of what the song was all about so I got curious and researched for its English translation which made me love it more. This song conveys what most of us had been through or might be going through:  Failures and struggles. It acknowledges one’s fault, shortcomings, and disappointments. It exposes one’s vulnerability.

Being a big fan of Bigbang, this song even made me more proud of how each members evolved into great artists whose individuality remains intact and magnified when they collaborate as a group. I am looking forward to see them perform again in Manila this July! ^_^

Loser was composed by Taeyang and Teddy and written by T.O.P, G-Dragon, and Teddy.  Bae Bae was composed and written by Teddy, G-Dragon and T.O.P. Both songs were arranged by Teddy, a well-known rapper, song writer and in-house producer of YG Entertainment.

English Translations from POPGASA.com:

LOSER

Loser, loner
A coward who pretends to be tough
A mean delinquent
In the mirror, you’re
JUST A LOSER
A loner, a jackass covered in scars
Dirty trash
In the mirror, I’m a

Honestly, I’ve never fit in with the world
I was always alone
It’s been a long time since I’ve forgotten about love
I can’t listen to hopeful love songs anymore
You and me both
We’re just sad clowns, tamed and scripted
I’ve come too far
I’M COMING HOME
I wanna go back
To when I was young

At some point
I started looking at the ground more than the sky
It’s hard even to breathe
I hold out my hand
But no one holds it
I’m a

Loser, loner
A coward who pretends to be tough
A mean delinquent
In the mirror, you’re
JUST A LOSER
A loner, a jackass covered in scars
Dirty trash
In the mirror, I’m a

It’s a cycle of girls and mistakes
Love them for one night
And hate them when morning comes
Can’t own up to it
Because of my selfish pleasure
Everything is being ruined
Can’t stop this dangerous full speed run
Now I have no interest, no fun anymore
I’m standing alone at the edge of a cliff
I’m going home
I wanna go back
To how it was before

At some point
I’ve gotten scared of people’s eyes
I’m sick of crying so I tried smiling
But no one recognizes me
I’m a

Loser, loner
A coward who pretends to be tough
A mean delinquent
In the mirror, you’re
JUST A LOSER
A loner, a jackass covered in scars
Dirty trash
In the mirror, I’m a

I curse the blue skies
Sometimes I wanna lay it all down
I WANT TO SAY GOOD BYE
When I stop wandering at the end of this road
I hope I can close my eyes without regrets

Loser, loner
A coward who pretends to be tough
A mean delinquent
In the mirror, you’re
JUST A LOSER
A loner, a jackass covered in scars
Dirty trash
In the mirror, I’m a

LOSER
I’M A LOSER
I’M A LOSER
I’M A LOSER

K-Pub BBQ Restaurant

The trendiest, coolest, and biggest K-Pop themed Korean barbeque restaurant I had ever been to is K-Pub BBQ Restaurant.  The hot pink and honeycomb-like LED facade is such an eye candy, you will not be able to miss it, whether daytime or nighttime, once you pass by BGC Fort Strip in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.  The Fort Bus Stop is just across it, so it is very accessible!

Upon entering, there is a stair on the left side that will lead you to the Green Room, which is the only Heineken Bar in the Philippines.

Straight ahead, once you pass through the purple drapery, you will see the stage and the giant video wall which is perfect for watching music videos of your favorite K-Pop group!

There are also posters of famous K-Pop group and other K-Pop artists on the second floor such as TVXQ, Bigbang, 2NE1, CNBLUE, Super Junior, Shinee, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Jaejoong and many more.

TVXQ in KPub Bigbang in KPubK-Pub is often chosen as a venue for fan meet and pre-concert gathering. The first time I went here was during CNBLUE Happy Fiesta for the Blue Moon World tour last June 2013. We also went here after the concert because CNBLUE came here to eat too! Many K-Pop artists had been here and as a K-Pop fan, this place is heaven-sent!

CNBLUE in KPubHowever, this place is not just for K-Pop fans. K-Pub also hosts acoustic sessions during Wednesday and Thursday night as well as band sessions during Friday and Saturday night.  Among my favorite bands who perform here are Side A and Freestyle.

K-Pub not only offers meat-all-you-can ranging from P499 to P899, they also serve ala carte meals. These are what my friends and I usually order here: Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), bulgogi (grilled marinated beef sirloin), naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles), japchae (stir-fried sweet potato noodles), seafood pajeon (seafood pancake), cheese gyeran-mari (rolled omelet with cheese) and bibimbap (mixed rice).

One weekend night, my friends and I had our dinner here and we requested music videos of Bigbang and CNBLUE.  It felt like we had an exclusive mini concert! We even had our pictures taken with the big posters of our biases upstairs. The experience we had was the best! ^_^

Subspace Coffee House

Some things do not always have to be big to be great. This holds true for Subspace, a Korean-themed coffee house.  It is small but the place is comfortable and intimate.  I love it!

20130728_184337

Every corner of this place is interesting and photo-worthy.  It is bursting with youthfulness and uniqueness.

20130728_184305 20130728_184256

There are colorful pictures on the wall, figurines and books on the shelves, old typewriter and telephone on the counter, and chairs  placed on the ceiling.  Yes, chairs!!!

They offer sandwiches, waffles, donuts, cakes, tea, milkshake, cheese foam, pasta, rice meals, etc. We ordered red velvet cake, Big Bang waffle (named after my favorite K-Pop band) and purple potato latte.

20130728_184244 20130728_165003

They also have K-Pop merchandise for sale!

20130728_184250-002

The first time we went here, we were supposed to attend a K-Pop event in Megamall where former U-Kiss, Alexander, was the special guest. Later on, we found out he was not able to attend the event due to safety reasons.  Guess who visited Subspace while we were there? It was Alexander!!!  We were so lucky we had an unexpected fan girl moment during that time at Subspace, though I only have my phone so my pictures were blurry.

We were able to visit Subspace Coffee House before they had the renovation in May. So the pictures posted here are the “before” photos. I have not been there for months but I am sure the renovated Subspace will look even better.

Subspace Coffee House not only offers a place where you can spend time with family and friends to have a meal or drink coffee or tea, you can also feel relaxed by its ambiance while you are alone and just reading your favorite book or magazine. For K-Pop fans like me, you may enjoy quality time with friends while K-Pop songs play on the background. They also sell K-Pop merchandise and host events.  If you are lucky,  another K-Pop star may drop by while you are there! What’s not to love about this place, right?!
