Haeundae Guesthouse in Busan, South Korea

I always wanted my trips to be organized but sometimes I have to let nature take its course and just enjoy the moment and veer away from the norm. This is my second time to go on a trip without making any prior reservation for accommodation. Our Busan trip was a spur-of-the moment decision so it was a good thing that I have read about Haeundae Guesthouse while preparing for our trip last year.

They were able to accommodate us as a walk-in. Upon inquiring for available room, we were told that we will be assigned to a room for 4 persons but we were only charged ₩66,000 (around P2800) for 3 persons since it was just the three of us who will be staying in one room.  The receptionist was also very friendly and knows how to speak English well.  She was also very helpful in assisting us on how to go to the major tourist spots in Busan.

The reception, pantry, laundry area and some rooms are located on the 4th floor and our room was on the 5th floor of Haewol Plaza Building.  Upon entering our designated floor, there were lockers where we kept our shoes and there were also slippers which we used inside our room.  There are also common couch area, powder area and a mini pantry.

We were assigned to Room 201 on the 5th floor.  It was very clean.  Since we were only staying for 1 night and we do not have big luggage with us, there was enough space for us to move in between the two sturdy bunk beds. The bed was neatly tucked in and it was comfortable enough, not too hard and not squeaky upon movement. They also provided ear plugs, towelettes, basic toiletries, and lockers. Our room was equipped with an LCD TV, hair dryer, air conditioner and power outlets on each bedside which were all working well during our stay.

We were able to connect to the wi-fi easily. It was fast and stable.  Our bathroom was clean with basic toiletries. The hot and cold shower worked well, the sink was not clogged and the toilet bowl flushed well.

This is so far one of the best guest house I have tried in Korea and I plan to stay here again if ever I come back to visit Busan. They were able to provide the basic needs of the budget-conscious travelers like us who only needed a clean and safe place to rest comfortably while on tour. It is very near the subway station and we were able to find it easily. There are a lot of restaurants and convenience stores in the area and it is just walking distance from Haeundae Beach. There are a lot of establishments and bars within the building as well but we did not encounter any problem with the noise level during our stay here, perhaps because we were too tired from exploring Busan all day and was a little tipsy because we tried flavored soju (blueberry and pomegranate) and makgeolli before heading back to our room that night.
