Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! What are your plans for today? If you are in Seoul right now or is planning to visit Seoul soon, you may want to try Miss Lee Cafe (별다방미스리).
I am a big fan of CNBLUE, most specifically their leader, Yong Hwa. During my first trip to Seoul, I went to Bukchon Hanok Village and visited the traditional Korean house where Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa lived in the Korean TV drama Heartstrings. On my second trip to Seoul, my friends and I had a late dinner at Miss Lee Cafe in Insadong where Yong Hwa and Seo Hyun of Girls Generation went for a date during their virtual marriage for MBC’s We Got Married.
While my friends and I were waiting for our food, I looked around and took pictures of every nook of this very cute cafe. Since we arrived late, there were only a few people left, which was really great because I was able to take photos without bothering anyone.
We ordered their Set 3 menu which includes the tteokbokki (stir-fried spicy rice cake with egg), lunchbox and bingsoo (Korean dessert made of ice flakes) then we ordered an additional lunchbox, omija latte and sweet pumpkin latte.
I am really curious about the lunchbox that the YongSeo couple had and was excited to try it with my friends. Dosirak 도시락 means lunch box in Korean. It is made of steel and is used during the old days to pack lunch. Miss Lee Cafe’s memorial assorted lunchbox consists of rice, kimchi, seaweed strips, egg and sausage slices. I tried to mix the ingredients altogether by shaking it like the YongSeo couple did and as instructed in their menu, but the kimchi sauce leaked so I ended up mixing it manually.
My friends and I enjoyed our dinner here. The set menu is good for sharing. My friends who tried the omija latte and sweet pumpkin latte enjoyed them too though it is not the usual taste you would want to try out if you have sensitive taste buds. I particularly enjoyed the metal lunchbox and the bingsoo. The tteokbokki is quite spicy for me.
Before we left, we also wrote our wishes and hang them on their wishing tree, just like what YongSeo couple did! Hmmm, can you guess what we wished for? :-)
