Every year I feel both sadness and excitement as I let go of the past year and welcome the new year. Very thankful for all the blessings from the past year and feeling hopeful that a better year will come.
Happy 2016 everyone! Last year had been great for me and I want to share my 2015 highlights with you! :-)
“Do what you love, and you will find the way to get it out to the world.” – Judy Collins
It is a fact to those who know me too well and those who have been reading this blog for quite some time now that even though I am Filipino by birth and I love the Philippines with all my heart and soul, I have also fallen in love with Korea for more than a decade now. In 2014, I started leitbloomer.com and became one of WOW Korea Supporters chosen by Korea Tourism Organization in Manila. In 2015, I was able to fulfill my ultimate travel goal and that is to visit Korea, not only once but TWICE! A dream come true indeed! :-)
It was my second solo overseas trip and I was able to experience spring, another dream come true! I was able to visit the following places in April 2015: Myeongdong Cathedral, Yeouido Hangang Park, Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village , Petite France, Nami Island and N Seoul Tower. I also went to K-Star Road and visit Korean Entertainment Agencies such as Cube, JYP, FNC, SM and YG Entertainment. I was also able to dine in at Hwang’s Eel Restaurant which is owned by the father of Min Hyuk (CNBLUE’s drummer) and we even had our picture taken together! I also had my first bingsu at Sulbing Korean Dessert Cafe which is owned by Jong Hyun (CNBLUE’s lead guitarist).
I was able to go back to Korea and experience autumn because of Cebu Pacific seat sale (I got round trip ticket for less than ₱5,000). This time, my college friends joined me. It was their first time so I became their tour guide. My one year of studying Korean language at Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines in 2012 helped us a lot during our trip. We were very fortunate to attend two festivals while we were there: The Seoul Lantern Festival and The 2nd Seoul Kimchi Festival. We also visited the following in November 2015: Gangwon: Nami Island; Busan: Gamcheon Cultural Village, Gwangali Beach, Haeundae Beach and Haedong Yongusa Temple; Seoul: Cheongyecheon Stream, Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Insadong, Samcheongdong, Hongdae, Myeongdong and N Seoul Tower.
“Work hard, then travel more.”
We are very blessed that our CEO has been giving us all-expense paid leisure trips for three consecutive years now. We had been to Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong and Macau. In 2015, we went to Bangkok in Thailand. :-)
Before 2015 ended, we were able to go on a day trip outside Manila and went to Tagaytay in Cavite and Calaruega in Nasugbu Batangas. We rarely do this so it was really fun and memorable since it is our first out-of-town trip with additional members of our family, my cousin’s husband (they just got married in December) and my two super cute nieces! :-)
As a K-Pop fan, I was able to watch Best of Best K-Pop Concert at the Philippine Arena which featured Red Velvet, BTOB (Born to Beat), Girls’ Generation or SNSD and Super Junior for FREE! I was also able to watch the most awaited comeback concert of my ultimate first love in K-Pop, Big Bang! My concert diary for the 2015 Big Bang World Tour [MADE] in Manila was one of my most read article in this blog and I am so ecstatic that even Ms. Happee Sy (the concert producer/K-Pop fairy godmother of the Philippines) took time to read it and replied when I sent her a message regarding my concert diary. She even shared it on her twitter account to reach more fellow VIPs! :-)
I also became more active in participating in events and contests sponsored by Korea Tourism Organization in 2015. Though I did not win the grand prize to most of these, at least I was lucky enough to win in four events. Not bad, right?! The first prize that I won was a JYJ autographed album from Visit Medical Korea New Members’ Event.
I will be posting about our autumn trip in Korea, our company trip in Bangkok and our family trip in Tagaytay and Calaruega. I will also feature the prizes I’ve won from the other events sponsored by Korea Tourism Organization, so stay tuned!
How is your 2015? I hope it went well and I hope 2016 will be better for all of us too! Happy New Year! 새해복많이받으세요! :-)
